HD Optics - Mark Ritchie

Mark A. Ritchie

CEO / Owner

Mark Ritchie has worked on set in production for over twenty years and continues to do so. He is both an accomplished DGA director and Local 600 Cinematographer. His hands-on experience with evolving technologies is an invaluable asset to understanding our client’s real world production needs and workflow. Mark continues to be the driving force behind HD Optics & Camera and remains deeply vested in the day-to-day operations.

Gair Ogata

General Manager

Gary, AKA “Gair” Ogata has been an integral part of HD Optics & Camera since it’s inception. His career in film & television started over a decade ago working in post production and graphic design. His experience also included a brief stint as a location sound mixer but soon realized they only feed you every six hours. Gair is responsible for all the day-to-day operations and is the voice behind every call.

Tracy L. Morse

Marketing Manager

Tracy moved from Rhode Island to Los Angeles in 1992 to pursue his dream of becoming a rock star. When reality set in, followed immediately by a haircut, he got cracking on a career in the film industry… which he will tell you was a close second choice. After two decades in the business as a below-the-line talent agent, 12 years as a Marketing Executive for Panavision, 6 years as a rental agent at Camtec Camera, and occasional screenwriter, Tracy has been living his dream as a rock star filmmaker and cinematic collaborator. Now at HD Optics, Tracy will continue to support and develop cinematographers, cultivate relationships with production companies and increase the awareness of HD Optics in the industry. And maybe, just maybe, give rock and roll another shot.

Kirk F. Smith II

Rental Floor Manager

Kirk’s motion picture foundation started in 2001 as a full-time prep tech at Panavision Hollywood. After four years of intensive training, he made the natural transition into the field. His on set career as a Local 600 camera assistant has had him working in virtually every genre including countless music videos, commercials, & features. After spending in excess of a decade on set, Kirk has returned to the rental industry and HD Optics & Camera is very privileged to have an individual with such real world experience guiding & mentoring our rental floor staff.

Jennifer Craig

Accountant / Business Affairs

As a Southern California native, Jennifer has almost 20 years of office management and accounting experience within the motion picture camera rental business. In addition to acting as the right side of Gair’s brain, she’s also been indispensable at providing exceptional administrative support, accounting knowledge, and giggles here at HD Optics & Camera since October 2014. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking the hills of Burbank, feeding squirrels, bird watching, playing golf, and embarrassing her teenage daughter… as much as she can.

Chelsea Hernandez

Rental Agent

In 2013, Chelsea transplanted from Phoenix, Arizona to attend USC and pursue her life long passion of working in the entertainment industry. After graduating in 2015, she began her career taking a position in motion picture camera rentals, and has remained since. In addition to her broad knowledge of camera equipment and workflow, she’s also worked in several other areas of the industry, including composing studios, production companies, and has spent much of her adult life in customer service.

Chelsea joins our team as a Jr. Rental Agent, and we are excited to have her knowledge, energy, and geekiness.

But having worked as a driver and shipper in the past, he brings some excellent experience and a sharp eye for detail to our Shipping & Receiving department. As a sports enthusiast and a bit of a betting man, if you’re interested in getting into fantasy football, or betting against his Dodgers, Lakers, or Philadelphia Eagles, he’ll always be happy to take your money while flashing his trademark smile.
